Black and White

My world is black and white

Like an only fashioned reel, my world does spin

All else’s colors fade from view

The only ones remaining in my world is crimson

Where are you light? Why are you only white?

Shall I lay down and be dissolved?

Or does my hope set somewhere else?

Speak to me, grains in the film

Where should my heart lie tonight?

I’m sorry, black and white photography remind me of aloneness and fear…

…But that’s when I learned God has ALL the sunshine!

Though you are never alone…know why?
This was literally me standing in the bathtub, on my tipp-toes and getting my face frozen to the frosty window!

My sister was actually just talking and I had my camera and photographer’s eye on. 🙂
Adobe Photoshop made this photo look like a water colored painting in a canvas. 🙂
See my previous blog post, You Know Better Than I, to see this photo, and other from this shoot, in full color. I also did a blog on White Light Photography. So check it out!

My Life as a Photographer

“Life’s a journey and an adventure, make memories from it.” ~Grace Tiberend Hey reader, welcome to my photography and writting spot! At sixteen years old, I’m a freelance photographer, writer, poet, novelist and dancer (including baton, figure skating and ballet.) I’m so in love with the outdoors, especially the mountains of Alaska, where I currently live when not traveling with a pencil, paper and camera. You can find me playing sports of all kinds; reading avidly in a tree or amongst pillows eating anything that contains PB and chocolate, and the camera forever around my neck. Jesus is my PASSION, more than I’m crazy about history, and He’s the true author of all my writings, as you’ll soon find out! Sharing Christ’s light with the world EVERY SECOND is my life mission! I enjoy creating, so if you need someone to create: -business cards, t-shirts, logos (business merchandise) -edit your photos and videos -writing protects & reviews And other projects, you can visit my profile, or hire me on @Grace T. Also find me on @Grace Tiberend I hope you enjoy my blogs of photography tips, photo shoots, stories, poems with a background, how to edit using photo apps —and much more! I can’t wait to share them all with you! Grace Tiberend 💜

  1. So I’m strolling through your site as if shopping for a bite to eat and get a taste of your foods for thought. I am immediately drawn to the black and white pictures. There is something about b&w that draws us into the picture. It’s like a solitude. I enjoy people, but I’m a loner at heart. I love silence and deep thought. I do not care for shallow and complex, which to me is what a lot of churches have become. There is something deep and simple about b&w. I can’t imagine how cold it is in Alaska. Even Indiana gets too cold for me sometimes. I do love Black Hills area in South Dakota, and Devil’s Tower. But as you say, God’s light is white. Have you ever considered that God chose his very first words in the Bible very carefully? Not by happenstance? He wants to be known as the Light-giver? Let there be light! Enlightenment. Lack of knowledge and truth is a form of darkness. But I do feel the solitude in your pictures, and I like that. I can almost feel the cold too, but glad that I don’t. LOL.

    1. Haha, I’ve never had such a viewer before! I love your pastoral personality and your crave for God ….and aloness. 😀
Yes!! The coldest we’ve had here is -16, thankfully.
B&w has never actually drawn me before, as I alsways enjoy color and light, but I thought i’de Give it a try! I always thought of b&w as a way to cover shadows and bad light, when they cannot be fixed, but I think b&w is def. an art now! Very cool.
      Keep spreading Gods light!!

  3. I actually really like B&W photography. To me, it’s not just sadness and loneliness.
I like the last and the cover photo the most.
It was funny to read that you were freezing your cheek just to get a photo.

    1. Yes, it seems that more and more are leaning towards B&W (thanks for the correcting 🙂 ) Photography. Sometimes I can see the art in it, but I guess I am more just one of those who loves color.
Those are my total favorite ones as well. 🙂
Haha! Yes!! In almost every phot shoot, we are freezing to death! (Love your expression lol)
